Living in a recovery house provides a crucial support system for those overcoming substance-use by offering a safe, structured, and drug-free environment. These homes emphasize accountability, where residents commit to sobriety and support each other through shared experiences, creating a sense of community that combats the isolation often felt during recovery. The structured daily routine and access to resources—such as counseling, job training, and skills-building—help residents establish healthy habits and prepare for life beyond the house. Recovery houses serve as a bridge between treatment and independent living, allowing residents to gradually reintegrate into society with the support they need. This environment significantly reduces the risk of relapse by fostering a focus on long-term sobriety and personal growth, making it a vital part of the recovery process for many.
Focus House
Focus House is a six-bed recovery residence that provides housing support and an array of mental, physical and substance-use services to individuals who have a diagnosis of a serious and persistent mental illness and substance-use disorder. The treatment team serves individuals 18 years of age and older who have demonstrated significant difficulty maintaining community functioning due to the combination of the effects of their mental illness and their substance-use disorders. These individuals may frequently find themselves homeless, incarcerated, or hospitalized and often don’t recognize how their mental illness/substance use affects their ability to successfully live in the community.
